DermaPen®

The DermaPen is an innovative micro-needling device used to stimulate collagen production. This collagen fills in fine lines, acne scars, and tightens loose skin and minimizes enlarged pores.

Collagen induction therapy via micro-needling has been performed since ancient times. What brings micro-needling into the 21st century is that with this device, the depth of penetration of the needles is adjustable. With a twist of the knob, you can lightly prick the top of the skin to help with topical product penetration or go deeper with the needles to stimulate collagen for more resistant wrinkles and scars.

Fraxel lasers produce a similar type of micro-penetration. However, lasers use high heat to penetrate the skin producing collateral damage to healthy tissue causing pain and more downtime. With the DermaPen only a mild topical anesthetic is used and afterwards a light dusting with mineral makeup allows clients to head right back to work.

Plus, because it’s so small (it looks like a marker or highlighter pen), getting into smaller contoured areas is easier than using a laser. The DermaPen is ideal for upper lip wrinkles and crows feet.

How does the laser get rid of my hair?
The eMax uses gentle light and electric energies to damage the hair follicle. This disables the follicle from growing hair, which means that gradually over several treatments, there is a permanent reduction in the amount of hair in that area.

What kind of results can I expect from the laser treatment?
Each treatment will result in less hair coming back, as well as hair growing progressively lighter in color, finer, and slower-growing with each treatment.  Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 6-8 treatments, but individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors. Lighter colored hair require more treatments than darker colored hair.

Does the treatment hurt?
The sensation is often described as a “hot pinch” or as a “snapping feeling”. The sensation only lasts for fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward. We use a topical numbing cream which helps to alleviate discomfort.

What happens after each treatment?
Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The treated area will shed some hairs over the next 3-4 weeks.

Epidermal Leveling

Epidermal Leveling is truly one of Dr. Gerstman’s favorite types of exfoliation. It is a great way to treat dull skin and a “fuzzy face”  leaving your skin as smooth and soft as a baby’s bottom!

The treatment utilizes a specially-designed tool to gently remove the topmost layers of skin leaving the skin supple, and vibrant. It gives the skin a smoother appearance by removing dead skin cells in addition to the fine vellous facial hair (“peach fuzz”) that can trap excess dirt and oil and leave the complexion looking dull.

Most people notice marked improvements in the texture and appearance of their skin immediately after their first treatment, making it an excellent procedure to have prior to a special event.

 Because epidermal leveling is non-invasive and does not require the use of any chemicals, it is ideal for our pregnant and nursing clients.

How will this procedure affect my facial hair?
Epidermal Leveling removes hair temporarily without the harsh effects of waxing and does not change the hair growth pattern or hair texture.

How often is this procedure performed?
Leveling can be performed every 3 – 4 weeks.  The procedure actually removes about 2-3 weeks worth of dead skin cells.

Can epidermal leveling be performed with a chemical peel?
