Epidermal Leveling

Epidermal Leveling is truly one of Dr. Gerstman’s favorite types of exfoliation. It is a great way to treat dull skin and a “fuzzy face”  leaving your skin as smooth and soft as a baby’s bottom!

The treatment utilizes a specially-designed tool to gently remove the topmost layers of skin leaving the skin supple, and vibrant. It gives the skin a smoother appearance by removing dead skin cells in addition to the fine vellous facial hair (“peach fuzz”) that can trap excess dirt and oil and leave the complexion looking dull.

Most people notice marked improvements in the texture and appearance of their skin immediately after their first treatment, making it an excellent procedure to have prior to a special event.

History of Microdermabrasion:

In the mid-90′s a skin care technique using aluminum oxide powder for microdermabrasion was developed in Italy. This process used a vacuum and a small orifice to accelerate the powder. Aluminum oxide abraded the skin and the vacuum cleaned out blocked pores.

The technique proved effective, however, it had some disadvantages:

1. Aluminum oxide was left imbedded in the skin and floating around in the air.
2. The crystals were left in the hair and clothes of both the patient and clinician.
